About Alpha Lambda Delta
UMass Alpha Lambda Delta Chapter
Welcome! We are the UMass Amherst chapter of the national honor society Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD). There are over 250 chapters of ALD nationally, and over 700,000 students have been inducted since its inception in 1924. Currently, the University of Massachusetts ALD chapter has over 275 members in the class of 2011, making us one of the largest chapters in the nation!
Alpha Lambda Delta serves to recognize academic achievement among students in their first semester of college. Each spring, we induct freshmen that achieved 3.7+ GPAs during the fall semester. Our members come from all departments and are some of the top students on campus.
UMass ALD's goals are two-fold. First, we look to create a community amongst our members through social events and community service initiatives. Secondly, we work to promote academic success campus-wide, especially amongst incoming freshmen that hope to join UMass ALD after their first semester.
