Hi. I’m Jeremy Cushing, a fifth year PhD student in philosophy at the University of Massachusetts: Amherst. I grew up in the suburban sprawl of north Delaware. It turns out that I like rural New England, but strip malls, four lane highways, and twenty-four hour diners still feel like home. I went to college at the University of Delaware. The issues that kept my interest were ones about the nature and function of the mind. I graduated with a degree in Philosophy and Psychology, but it was the philosophers asking the questions I wanted answered. My primary interests are still issues about the mind. I want to know about belief, consciousness, perception, and attention. My dissertation is on Self-Knowledge, but it is in a rather preliminary stage. I have a lot of secondary intrests including aesthetics and political philosophy, on which I have taught classes at UMass, and Ethics. If you want to know more about me professionally, you should look at my CV which doesn’t exist yet. When it does there will be a link to it above and you should look at it. If you want to know more about me personally, you can check out my profiles on MySpace and Friendster. I’m embarrassed to have such profiles but I leave them up and even link to them. I’m weird like that. |
