Students, Faculty and Staff are given an OIT Account when they arrive on campus. To get started using your account, you'll need to activate it. Activate your account

Once you've activated your account, you will have access to the campus network and email.

Use our step-by-step instructions to connect your computer to the Campus Network. There are three ways you can connect to the campus network: (on-campus), Dial-up (off-campus).

• Ethernet : Networked buildings on-campus have dedicated Ethernet jacks that link your computer to the campus network.
• Dial-up : Use Dial-up if you are are off-campus or in a building not wired for Ethernet.
• Wireless : An ever-growing number of buildings on campus are wireless, "wi-fi", enabled. No wires. No fuss.

Each OIT Account comes with UMail service, the UMass Amherst campus email system. To send and receive mail you can use:

• UMail on the Web : UMail on the Web is the Web interface for UMail and allows you to access and manage your email from anywhere you have access to the Internet.
• Email Software : Email software is installed on your computer and is perfect for accessing UMail from computers you use regularly.
