The Hills are Alive
The hills are alive — with interrogation,
With aliens held — for suspicious acts,
General Butler is filled with the screams of torture
As we get the truth—via well-placed whacks.
Dough Is Dear (by Amy Young)
Dough is dear, dear to me,
Ray, a name, my lawyer's name,
Me, the Governator,
Fa, my favorite shower gel.
So let's annex Oregon
La, la, la, la, la, la, la,
Tea, no thanks, I'll have a beer,
And that brings me back to dough.
How Do You Solve a Problem LikeTheresa?
How do you solve a problem like Theresa?
How do you catch her role and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Theresa?
A liberal, a foreigner, a "Frau"?
How do you solve a problem like Theresa?
How can you fix the election in your state?
A Few of My Favorite Things (for Elfriede Jelinek)
Raindrops on Nazis and Heider and Bambi,
Bright women sewing brassieres in the mountains,
Erika cutting away at herself,
These are the things found on Jelinek's shelf.
Cream-colored hunters, crisp apple strudel,
Porno and rest stops, and schnitzel with noodles.
Nora whips Helmer and Batman whips Flipper,
These
are a few of her favorite things.
To the peep show, to the Prater,
When she's feeling sad,
She simply remembers her favorite things and nobly
Drives the Pope mad.
