Some repair resources for screw-mount Yashicas

Note Well:
Possession of this information does not make you a camera repairman.   Most beginners ruin the first camera they open.   Practice on something expendable.   I'm not responsible for your errors!

The diagrams on this site are from 300 DPI scans.   Print them at 300 DPI and you should get close to the original size.   On most browsers they appear at about 4 times normal size, although you should be able to scroll around in them.

Being GIFs (for compact size) there is no DPI information inherent in the file format.   You'll either need to change them to 300 DPI in your image editing software (be careful the printed size doesn't change when you do) or just open them in something like WordPerfect or Word where you can resize them with the mouse by dragging the corners.   Usually there's some trick like holding down the Ctrl or Shift key when resizing to preserve the aspect ratio.   They don't have to be exactly the right size, of course, as long as you can read them.   Most should be printed in landscape mode.

One roundabout trick I figured out for changing the DPI in Photoshop is to load the image, do Select All, then Copy.   Close the file, then do File New and set the new image's DPI to 300 (the pixel size should stay set to the size of the image in the clipboard.)   Now just paste into the new image. - A slightly easier way: Go to Image | Image Size, then be sure your width unit is pixels.   Double-click on the value then Ctrl-C (Windows) to copy it.   Be sure Constrain Proportions is checked down below.   Now change the resolution to 300 DPI and paste your width value back where it was.   There's probably an easier way (like use Paint Shop Pro? :-) ).

Now that I've moved this site off of Freespeech.org (8/19/2001) due to their pop-ups, I should be able to offer these in zipped sets as soon as I get to it.   They'll still be HTTP links, not FTP, because I don't have anyplace I can offer them for anonymous FTP.   If you use a download manager like GetRight you should be OK.

I would like to get more of these documents on line.   Unfortunately I've bought just about all I can find of them and put them here.   If you've got a service manual or assembling charts for one of the screw-mount Yashicas not here, I'd like to hear from you.   I'll do the scanning and typing and in most cases have the original on its way back to you within 48 hours.
