Layoff Links For some poignant personal stories, go to A Look at Those Affected by Downsizing, a feature article from U.S.A.Today, November 12, 1996. Downsizing is an issue that most trade unions are worried about and working on. An excellent article from the magazine Solidarity on the subject can be found at the United Auto Workers website (April, 1996). Want to know who in Congress gives a damn? See Downsizing the American Dream, a staff report of the House Democratic Policy Committee, and two right-on speeches by Congressman David Obey, "Who is Downsizing the American Dream?" Part 1 and Part 2 Been downsized yourself? You can fill out a form documenting the details at My Downsizing Story. Check out the promotional site for Michael Moore's very good book, Downsize This. It has some hot tips on things like the top ten downsizers, and how to join a right-wing militia. For more info on how many Americans have been affected by layoffs, and how they feel about it, take a look at the New York Times polls that provided much of the basis for the series of articles on the subject they published in 1996.
