| Two critical comments: | ||
| "What is the difference between the robber barons of old and the Trumps and Gateses of today? Of course--ANYONE can become a multimillionaire by creating software companies...that is, with the 100 grand for a Harvard education and a few more grand of start-up cash." | ||
| "Oh yeah! Happy shiny people working hard for these nice investors who are creating jobs for America. What about the conditions these workers labored in? Child labor? Sure they created jobs, but not in the people's interests. They did it by exploiting them. Free markets might create jobs, but they don't assure that these jobs are safe, pay well, have benefits, or anything that reflects workers' interests. It might boos the economy but it doesn't mean everyone will benefit from its profits." | ||
| Two positive comments: | ||
| "Greed isn't good, it's great! It makes money for everyone. It is represented in the movie how good things once were, even though greed existed." | ||
| "Though the film does not praise the robber barons exactly, it does suggest that these captains of industry, as they might rather be called, were important and played a necessary role in the industrial growth of America. The idea is that the rich should not be penalized, because they are vital to the economy." | ||
