Enjoy daily presentations on history and culture, teaching tips and strategies for the series, as well as ideas for the AP curricula. Monday, July 3, 2006. Arrive Rome AM; transfer to bus for Sorrento. Visit remains of Roman villas; tour city museum; walking tour of Sorrento.

Tuesday, July 4. Visit the ancient city of Baiae, follow Aeneas to Cumae, (Ch 38-40) and Pliny to the Piscina Mirabilis at Misenum (Ch 68).

Wednesday, July 5. Continue with Pliny: an all day visit to Pompeii.

Focus: Pliny’s Letter to Tacitus (Ch 68).

Friday, July 7. Visit the Museo Nazionale in Naples to view the Pompeian treasures; afternoon visit to the villa at Oplontis.

Sunday, July 9. Arrive Rome AM; Follow the steps of Titus, Marcus and Sextus into Rome, with walking tour of the Circus Maximus. (Ch 24, 27) Then Tiber Island, the Forum Boarium (Ch 28-30) and Capitoline Museum.

Monday, July 10 . Tour of the Forum Romanum including the Curia and Tabellarium, the Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum (Ch 23, 24, 26, 47- 49).

Tuesday, July 11. Visit the Imperial Fora, the Subura, the Domus Aurea (Ch 25, 35, 63, 64, 65).
