EUROPE (May 3 – July 2, 2000) Segovia, Spain - Titirimundi Festival After a brief two and a half week return to Amherst to attend to some departmental business, I embarked on part two of my travels to attend a series of puppetry festivals in Europe and to observe classes l’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette, the leading school of international puppetry, and to view archival puppet videos at the l’Institut International de la Marionnette, the world’s leading puppet research center, and as a guest observer at l’École nationale supérieure des arts de la marionnette, the leading school of international puppetry. Thanks to the Henson Festivals of International Puppetry in New York, the 14th Annual Titirimundi Festival in Segovia featured many well-known puppet performers such as Los Titiriteros de Binefar, Richard Bradshaw, Joan Baixas, and The Crowtations. Some of the performers and companies on the roster, however, included many that were new to me. |
