You are in the Elementary Method Book Selection and Analysis Assignment
 
Assignment:  Elementary method book selection and analysis.  Selecting effective and appropriate instructional materials is a central aspect of teaching.  This assignment is discovery-based and aimed at professional-world situations.

Directions
1. Select an elementary instrumental method book (strings or band)  from those on the class reserve list. 
2. Analyze the content using  ALL the criteria for selection found in Session 8 Class Notes and discussed in class.  Use each criteria as a topic header, then provide significant detail for each criteria to support your analysis.
3. Provide a concluding explanation tha describes new understandings you gained about teaching/learning music as a result of your analysis.
4. Follow the directions for written work found in the Syllabus and submit your written analysis electronically as a MS Word attachment.*

Due Date
Friday, September 30.

Assessment and Grading
This assignment will be assessed and graded using the following criteria: Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Work Quality, Work Process (see General Assessment Rubrics).  Include this assignment in your music ed portfolio.
