Greetings, weary cyber-traveller. I'm Marty Norden and I'd like to welcome
you to my home page. Most of the items you'll find here are related to my
work as a Professor of Communication at the
University of Massachusetts-Amherst
and as book review editor for the Journal of
Popular Film & Television. I have included the most recent
versions of my syllabi, information on books that I've written or edited (such as The
Cinema of Isolation and The Changing Face of Evil in Film
and Television), my curriculum vitae, a biographic statement,
and my theater résumé. I've also provided connections to
the Interdepartmental Film
Studies Program, DEFA Film Library,
and Interdisciplinary Seminar in
the Humanities and Fine Arts, all at UMass-Amherst. Finally,
you'll find links to the Amherst Cinema Arts Center, the Media Education Foundation, the Northampton
Independent Film Festival, and many other professional and
scholarly websites in my "Links-o-Rama" section below, divided into four
admittedly overlapping categories. Enjoy! Again, welcome.
Marty's Links-o-Rama
General film
studies -- databases, archive holdings, special-topic sites, etc.
The film business --
studios, independent filmmaking, box-office info, trade publications, etc.
Screenwriting resources

Misc. writing/research
resources -- the Library of Congress online catalog, an HTML primer,
search engines, etc.
