This laboratory involves applications and demonstrations of organic practices for establishing a home garden. Practices will include:
1. Preparation of land for seeding and transplanting.
2. Seeding and transplanting.
3. Fertilization to include calculations of amounts to apply and placement.
4. Mulching to include applications and evaluations of mulches of plastic, paper, and organic matter for purposes of warming the soil, controlling weeds, and beautification.
5. Applications of row covers for protection of plants against chilling or freezing.
6. Cultural procedures for protection of plants against insects.
7. Uses of garden tools.
