Carpenters: Carpenters needed to do repairs and maintenance in Fine Arts Center
& Bowker Auditorium, weekdays during the hours of 9am-5pm, position pays

Custodians: Looking for Custodians to do routine cleaning in the FAC & Bowker

Security Monitors – Needed for Academic Year
2008-09:
Residence Hall
Security Monitors – RHS is seeking dynamic students
to work as Security Monitors. Incumbents in this position provide security at
all 45 Residence Halls on Campus by confirming resident’s identification and
registering their guests. Monitors are also responsible for reporting safety
concerns, assisting residence Life staff in enforcing Housing & University
policies, and notifying emergency services as needed. No previous security
experience is necessary, however we are seeking energetic, outgoing people who
enjoy working in a dynamic environment working with people; this is not a
spectator position! Applicants must be students at UMass/Amherst, be in good
academic standing, have a clean criminal & judicial records and commit to
working at least three (3) weekend shifts per month (until 3am); plus one
weekday shift per week. Most monitors average 15-25hrs/week. This is a highly
competitive position with excellent starting pay of $8.50/hr; with
opportunities for advancement, as well as semi-annual reviews for performance

Student Chemical Receiving Technician:
We are looking for a student to perform the following duties for us; such
as – receiving, bar-coding & delivering of chemicals to appropriate laboratories;
for data entry to help maintain the CEMS database by entering chemical
information and MSDS’s to perform lab inventory, and filing. The student must
have a valid driver’s license, be able to drive a delivery van; have good
customer service skills, and be able to work during lunch hours, and work until
5pm and work on Fridays (a must). The hours are flexible Monday through Friday,

Web Assistant:
Web Assistant needed to help maintain departmental website. Duties
include updating/replacing web pages, creating new pages, posting new material,
editing and posting photographs (and maybe taking some new digital photos too),
and other web-related duties as needed. Job will include that 1-meeting per
week on campus during regular business hours, but the majority of work
assignments will be performed at the employee’s own personal computer and can

Web Coder:
We coders wanted
for front-end/back-end web development, we do some static pages but mostly
build custom web apps. This position pays $12/hr, the hours are flexible, and
references are requested. Student must be experienced, meaning you’ve been
building sites on your own (outside a web design class) for at least a year,
able to hand-code / fix the bugs Dreamweaver throws in. We’re moving further
and further away from using Dreamweaver at all. Familiar with using CSS for
formatting AND layout (goodbye, nested tables) have at least a basic knowledge
of Photoshop (size, crop, color correct, drop shadow…) good with PHP,, i.e.
writing it! A lot of our pages are in PHP now. Play well with others and be
patient with the digitally illiterate. Be taking classes and available to work
at least two semesters; students with later graduation dates preferred.
Strongly preferred experience with Cake or another MVC framework.
