            Auxiliary Services hires more than 1,000 UMass students during the academic year, we have positions that are available in the Campus Center, the Campus Center Hotel, ALL the Dining Commons (all 4 of them; which are Berkshire, Hampshire, Worcester, and Franklin) and in our Auxiliary Services Offices and Maintenance areas. Bus Drivers:

            UMass Transit Service is seeking Bus Operators. Operators will service the Five-College area, as well as several outreach areas. Applicants must be able to pass a NIDA-5 panel pre-employment drug screen and have at least three semesters remaining. As a bus driver, you will be trained to receive your Class B Commercial Drivers License, which will enable you to operate our Transit Coaches. Our bus drivers are committed to safety, efficiency, and courtesy and having fun.  Must be willing to work a minimum of 15hrs/week. Position pays $9.50/hr. A Valid driver’s license is required. Minimum of 1-yr driving in the U.S. and must be able to communicate clearly with other drivers and the public.

Administrative Assistant – Needed at CCEBMS;

AREA SUPERVISOR – Needed for Academic Year 2008-09:

            Residence Hall Security: Area Supervisor – Residence Hall Security seeks outgoing and active individuals with good communication skills for the position of Area Supervisor. Job tasks include, but are not limited to: conducting walking patrols of an assigned living area for an evening in all weather conditions; aiding, relieving & supervising Security Monitors at fixed positions; securing & alarming building access points; conducting walking safety escorts; and responding to emergency situations. Bike Co-Op Co-Manager/Mechanic – Position Available:

            The UMass Bicycle Co-Op is hiring for the fall semester! Do you like Bicycles? Are you good with tools? Are you clumsy with a wrench, but interested in getting first-hand experience in the day to day running of a business? If so, this is the job for! The UMass Bike Co-Op is a student run business that is simultaneously a full-service bike shop and community resource for tools, repair skills and advocacy. As a Bike Co-Op co-manager, you will be an equal partner in a cooperatively-run business where you can gain valuable business, mechanical and personal experience, as well as just have the most fun that is possible without being on two wheels. Business data Management Clerk:

            The Center for Student Development has an open position in the business area of the central department. Duties will entail daily mail distribution  and courier service across campus, as well as copying, collating and filing of business related documents. These are functions that include reviewing financial data to audit and update business records using various computer programs. Tickets Unlimited is looking for undergrads who can work cooperatively with other enthusiastic undergrads in a student run business selling tickets for student events and managing vendors in the campus concourse. You must be able to dedicate at least 8-hours a week and some weekends; freshman/sophomores or work-study applicants are encouraged, but not required for a strong candidate.             We are taking applications for this upcoming academic year 2008-2009; we are looking for Co-Manager’s for the student run Sylvan Snack Bar, which is located in the basement of McNamara in the Sylvan Residential Area. The Snack bar is looking for dedicated, responsible and organized workers to apply. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students; there is a two-semester commitment requirement; and seniors are not encouraged to apply. Work-study is preferred, but not necessary. The Sylvan Snack Bar is a non-profit, student-run organization, tasks involve but are not limited to – cooking and preparation; customer interaction, and committee work such as advertising/marketing; bookkeeping, purchasing, inventory physical upkeep of the establishment, and hiring/training of other new co-managers. Customer Service Agent:

UMASS translation Center offers multilingual services such as translation, interpretation, film, subtitling, narration and foreign language research for Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, state and government agencies and individuals.             Residence Hall Security Monitors – RHS is seeking dynamic students to work as Security Monitors. Incumbents in this position provide security at all 45 Residence Halls on Campus by confirming resident’s identification and registering their guests. Monitors are also responsible for reporting safety concerns, assisting residence Life staff in enforcing Housing & University policies, and notifying emergency services as needed.             We coders wanted for front-end/back-end web development, we do some static pages but mostly build custom web apps. This position pays $12/hr, the hours are flexible, and references are requested. Student must be experienced, meaning you’ve been building sites on your own (outside a web design class) for at least a year, able to hand-code / fix the bugs Dreamweaver throws in. We’re moving further and further away from using Dreamweaver at all. Familiar with using CSS for formatting AND layout (goodbye, nested tables) have at least a basic knowledge of Photoshop (size, crop, color correct, drop shadow…) good with PHP,, i.e. writing it! A lot of our pages are in PHP now. Play well with others and be patient with the digitally illiterate. Be taking classes and available to work at least two semesters; students with later graduation dates preferred. Strongly preferred experience with Cake or another MVC framework. AJAX experience or at least interest. We’re headed that way eventually. Affinity for MySQL, online forms, testing, testing, and more testing. Basic UNIX skills, daemon commands and file operations.
